Guest flightline
Well, not quite, but how will 658,000 do you? Prescott today has announced his expansion plans for Milton Keynes, Thames Gateway, Ashford (maybe near to you, Cranfield) and M11 corridor north of Stansted. This represents more roads and infrastructure as well as houses. It`s a real threat to all country sports. What are you guys planning to do about it? :o :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
Cranfield
Nope, Ashford is far enough away not to affect me, personally. The decision to grant this amount of planning permission for the South East, is quite amazing. Where are the people going to come from, that will buy these houses ? The areas specified, with the exception of part of the Thames Gateway, are already very developed and hardly rural pastures. But, its something else to remember the next time you vote, whether its a local or national election. I can,t stand Prescott, I think he is such a slob. dead-eye-dick
The way they build houses down here, in Kent, they'll only need a couple of square miles to put that lot in !!! And don't think they'll bother with extra roads - that would be common sense..!!!! :o :S
Guest flightline
You have probably seen the info in the papers now. My figure was wildly out! It`s Prescott`s 200,000 plus in excess of 800,000 homes by Local Authorities, probably the bulk of which will be in the South. The people will come from households which are single ones through divorce, later entry to marriage etc or don`t want to plus the odd 1m asylum seekers it is estimated have entered Britain in the last 10 years have to live somewhere plus migration South for work. With the associated new/expanded roads plus other infrastructure, it will have quite an impact. And if you look at Prescott`s arguements, it`s all to do with designing "sustainable communities" and high design quality rather than denying people access forever more to part of the countryside they once enjoyed doing whatever their interest was. Precott represents the further Toytownisation of the countryside. We`ll soon most of us live in extended suburbs with parks.
rjimmer
This just Social Engineering. They are wanting to build lots of houses in the country so that 'their' voters can move in and outvote the locals. It seems that down here you can't get planning permission for more than a few houses unless you include about 30% 'affordable' or social housing. The housing association 'quangoes' get the permission and then can't find local tenants so they have been bringing down 'overspill' from places like Wolverhampton. The crime rate has rocketted.
