Ive tryed a lot of places but 32gr 6 or 6.5 in fibre wad is my ideal choice . Anybody know where abouts to get would order a good fewas well.Yorkshire area The 20 bore was never designed to deal with this stuff, it is a lighter bore for lighter ammo, 32g in a 20 is a heavy cartridge, no doubt that is why there is very little to select from.....and I guess it will be pretty expensive as well. May I ask what is the attraction, if you want this sort of stuff why not a 12g Hushpower, it is likely to be a lot easier on the shoulder as well as the pocket! roebuck243 Posted July 17, 2010 Author Report Share Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) Hi there at the moment the 20b over +under is the only near normal gun on the market that is fully silenced .Ive tested the hushpower 12b but its massive and too bulky and also pump action. Some of the places i have to shoot at , silenced is essential and the only thing to sensibly use.What im finding is it doesnt attract attention where as the 12b when used you get people popping up all over the place .With whats happened recently its going to get worse im guessing with phone calls to the police etc. Im out most days at min and getting on well with the fully silenced 20b which raises and shoots pretty normal apart from been a little tight and have to be more accurate. As for lighter on shoulder it doesnt really affect the hushpower anyway whay you use ,but pocket does matter. Its only because of this im usuing a 20b and would like 32gr in 6 but as for the availability is hard to find. If you put anything over 26gms through it it’s (almost) as noisy as a normal gun. Using 30gm + cartridges even if you can get them for 20b totally defeats the object of being quiet! Please explain? roebuck243 Posted July 17, 2010 Author Report Share Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) Hi there i have to correct you as you are wrong on both occasions firstly 20b hushpower over and under i shoot with heavier loads carts isnt nearly as loud as a normal gun otherwise i wouldnt go to the trouble and expense of usuing one.I use this gun on a daily basis on pigeons ! .When you can shoot over 100 pigeons at the end of someones 60 foot garden overlooking farmland and they dont even really know you are there then i think it is a little more easier on the ear.I have never used subs in it and dont seem to need to have to,as it knocks the noise down tremendously with anything i put thro it.Yes subs would be even quieter but id rather settle in between and have the extra load and punch as well.I shoot pigeons virtually full time so have to have the tackle for the job.I dont have loads of time as some do on these forums to answer and scroll and search etc and was just asking where and how much and if available for the carts. Secondly the gun comes out the factory with 1/2 and 3/4 choke ! It may say Newbie pigeon shooter on the left but far from it, its just ive only recently found+joined thats all!! Have a nice day. I have told you that Just Cartridges have them on their stock list. It would take less time to check the prices for yourself than to type your reply above. sitsinhedges Posted July 17, 2010 Report Share Posted July 17, 2010 I have now settled on a homeload that is 28grams of shot leaving the 20g o/u Husher at 1150FPS. It is quiet and very effective. The gun is choked half and full. I really can't see why you should need more firepower for decoying if you are putting the shot in the right place I believe the baffles will suffer if you put too much heavy/high velocity loads thru them.
