poontang
It's all on the BASC website. Basically, from what i can understand, it's all due to the good old EU
fuzrat
All to do with europe, Copied from CPSA website The Firearms (amendment) Regulations 2010 Coming into effect on the 28th July 2010 and bringing the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) into line with the European Weapons Directive 1991, this amendment raises the age at which young people may purchase or hire firearms or ammunition from the current 17 to 18 years of age. Furthermore, a young person between the ages of 15 and 17 may be given or lent a shotgun and cartridges but may not buy or hire them. Attaining the age of 15 years, a young person may use a shot gun without supervision providing he/she holds a valid shot gun licence. Under section 11 (5) only, non certificate holders aged less than 18 but who are 15 years or older, may now only be lent a shot gun in these circumstance by a person aged 18 years or older. Under 15 years of age and you must be supervised by a person who is at least 21 years of age. Hope that sheds some light Fuzrat

I.e your indirectly buying the gun. Or am I missing something?
