sg1
Please excuse me if this is a really simple question but, Will the Teague chokes HERE fit my older Winchoke® 1400 MK2 Winchester shotgun? Also- if compatible- would I be best getting a 3/8 choke for sporting clays as It was suggested to me to get either 1/4 or 1/2 so 3/8 seems to be a happy medium? Scully
I can't see why not....I bought Teagues for my Winchester 101 a few years ago, which originally had Winchokes fitted. It didn't specify which model, just said Winchester 12 Gauge. There's a lot of rubbish talked about chokes, but 1/4 and 1/2 willdo fine for sporting clays except trap where it is advisable to go tighter.Put the 1/4 and 1/2 in and then forget about them(except for cleaning),if you miss,it wont be because you have the wrong chokes in!Have fun. DSPUK
The barrels on those 1400's are like scaffold poles so I used 1/2 or nothing- just threads for close birds. Dave
Gordon R
I would not bother buying another choke. If you have 1/4 and 1/2 - use either. Duncan Lawton won the FITASC World Championship twice using a Remington auto with 1/2 choke only. You can pick secondhand Winchokes - also Browning/ Miroku - same size thread and choke - interchangeable - at most Gunsmiths.
sg1
But that's just it!! - I aint got a 1/2 or 1/4 , I only have a full choke and it's a 'little' too precise for what I need.

Dave I'll have you know that my 1400 barrel is smoother than a babies bum !!

A 1/4 choke is good enough for most sporting clays but a 3/8 is an excellent confidence booster, being a bit tighter than a 1/4 but a bit more open than 1/2. It's what I use in my semi-auto. Vic. sg1
Exactly what my theory was!! - a 3/8 choke will (should) improve my game Can't WAIT to see their faces at the shoot when I next use it

Be very careful putting invector chokes in a winchoke gun as they have different bore sizes.i have a winchester 6500 winchoke and was sold a pair of briley skeet chokes.i put them in they fitted fine i fired a shot and it broke the clay but it felt different so i opened the gun and had i look down the barrel, part of the plastic wad had caught behind the choke if i had carried on shooting it would have wrecked the gun.the winchesters have a 18.6mm bore and the invector chokes are for a 18.4mm bore.i rang BWM arms and they still had some genuine winchokes in stock but it was 4or 5 years ago. bornfree
