Marc M
I have the Gerber Gator folding knife, which has a fantastic non slip (even when wet) handle. Also the Leatherman Wave for odd jobs when I'm out and about. These two seem to cover most of my needs, so I'm happy.
kip270
I use the Lansky pro knife sharpening system. Bit 'complicated' to set-up at first but you can set the blade edge angle to suit the application of the knife. Dug all my old blades out and now have a pile of sharp knives again I use the lanksy system too, and all my knives are sharp. even the kitchen knives
Hardy
I've used an opinel for years too - bought the first one in france when I was at school for cleaning fish. These days I tend to use my leatherman the most as I always carry it with me - only trouble is it takes as long to clean it as the rabbit! A decent cleaning knife is on my shopping list for this year. Got a great sharpener last year Blade tech which lives on my keyring & sharpens everything! There are a fewe interesting products at this web site too Drop Zone which specialised in military equipment. Keep meaning to pop in to have a look at the goods as its only a mile or so from the house but not got around to it yet. I have no connection to either of the above companies - just handy things I've found. As they say other suppliers are avaialable!
Wookie
I use a Buck Bucklite II and, for the money, it's a great little knife. The edge comes up very sharp after only minimal work with a steel and it holds the edge for a pretty long while. The only downside is the ABS handle. I tried using it for trimming the thicker stuff in my hedge and the main pivot popped through the handle. The lifetime warrenty will take care of getting it fixed, but I am worried about sending it back to the States, so I might just fix it myself. Ferret Master
Hi, I have the Blade tech! I got it free in Shooting Times when they had a hundred to give away free. FM
SNAKEBITE
For years I always wanted a BUCK knife. I ordered a "woodsman" from E-bay in the USA and it cost half the price of what I could get it over here! INCLUDING shipping. Infact I liked it so much I bought a skeleton handled folder as well. Perfect all rounders.
Dunkield
Hi, I have the Blade tech! I got it free in Shooting Times when they had a hundred to give away free. FM They are great but DON'T use one of these on a quality blade, they are great on 'larder' knives but they take a huge amount of metal off each time you wipe the blade through. stupidsalmon
In my opinion I only need one knife, that can do everything(even without a guthook)......well nearly everything; a machete comes in handy once in while, as with an axe. palombier
I'm in the Opinel camp. Brilliant knives, fantastic edge, cheap and easy to sharpen. Only drawback is that the carbon steel blade does tarnish/rust easily. P

Cheers SS That is a very nice knife indeed, can you tell us where you got it and how much they are? Also what metal is the blade? edit: OK I found it on the web: "This is a top quality and very unusual sporting knife made by Cudeman of Spain. It has a razor sharp brushed full tang 440 Toledo stainless steel blade. The handle is 2 pieces of polished olive wood. The pins are solid brass. Comes with a very soft one piece brown leather sheath. This knife is exeptional quality and rivals even handmade knives (It is handmade but as the entire knife was not made by the same person it cannot be advertised as such). Overall length is 8.75". This item is new and in the box" £27!!! looks like a bargain. Edited January 11, 2006 by stuartp
SNAKEBITE
It is the knife that is based on the one designed by Ray Mears. It mirrors his one almost identically. However it is about £175 CHEAPER!! I did look at it before buying my Buck, however it seemed too good to be true! Looks like I was wrong

lord_seagrave
An update for anyone considering purchasing from knifeman.co.uk - I got back on Friday night to see a postcard on the doormat from Royal Mail telling me they'd tried to deliver my new knife on Tuesday morning. Picked it up from the depot earlier on today. The man is true to his word and the service/turnaround is as good as any I've experienced. KNIFEMAN With regard to the knife itself, the new blade's very nice. The handle is comfortable to hold, balance is good and a joy to use (out in the field next week end, so handling based on kitchen performance). The wooden handle isn't entirely flush with the metal, but aside from that rather minor niggle it's a cracking little knife. The sheath is pretty average though and could do with a separate strap to secure the handle. I daresay I shall get round to sorting that out. stupidsalmon
The 143L was my 2nd option, but i decided to wait for the 147L to be in stock. Both very nice knives, Cheers SS
