Albertan_J
The wheat has been cut today and the pigeons are already on it. Question is do I go up and bang away or let them get settled in and start on Saturday?? I'm sure a few of you lads on here will know whats best

CZ550Kevlar
Get in there while the going is good. Not sure about where you are, but down here the wind is blowing a gale and the pigeons aren`t keen on flying in the high winds, that and the ammount of lead is rediculous. Albertan_J
The weather is lovely up here in the north east. Really want to stick the semi in the motor and have a walk about but I think I'll wait until tomorrow at least as there is plenty of good eating for them to choose and I want to keep them on my patch. Then again they could be gone tomorrow. Might flip a coin lol
Highlander
Round here the wheat that hasn't been harvested might not be now given the weather we've been getting the last 48 hours. Rule of thumb, if the birds are there go get 'em as they may not be tomorrow. Ghost birds are pigeons!
proTOM1
Wheat is different to rape well it is round me i tend to get better shooting on wheat if i leave it a few days after being cut but there good round me and leave the stubbles for a good while ,i have my best shooting on wheat when its been cut for 2 to 3 weeks
Cranfield
If you see birds on the stubbles (or any other crop) then thats the time to shoot them. Wait and they may go somewhere else, or the farmer will disc the stubbles in.

I'm sure a few of you lads on here will know whats best It would probably be better letting the woodys feed on it for a day or two to build up their confidence and their numbers before you hit them hard, you should also take into account other fields in the vicinity being cut because if u leave it to late they could move on. Hope that helps.
Albertan_J
Got on it tonight couldn't stop them coming in even when I was standing up out of the hide stretching they were still coming in. Excellent afternoon sport and some good bbq eating if this sun stays out over the weekend
