steve_b_wales
It could possibly be the cartridges. It would pay you to strip down the shotgun it's quite easy. Look on Youtube for 'stripping/cleaning an Escort. I have'nt had problems with mine, and I've fired many 100's of cartridges through it. The biggest problem that owners of Escorts encounter is the gun not cycling. This is normally caused because the gun works better with 70mm cartridges. sitsinhedges
That can happen if you don't let the bolt slam shut
Slug
What length is the round ? From memory these are bit shorter as it is a game load as opposed to a clay load ? I know we have had a few guys shoot practical with <70mm marked on carts in those and they jammed like *******..

ziplex
That can happen if you don't let the bolt slam shut Had this happen too on a Benelli M2 a few times before I realised and look out for it, either letting the bolt slide forward slowly while holding onto the bolt 'handle' or if you knock the butt on the floor? Both can cause this 'click'/non fire you mention.
stubby
I'd say it needs a full strip-clean, although dont do mine after every outing
blister
if you do not let the bolt go forward on its on it will not fire the shell that is straight from edgar brothers and if you do not clean the gas ports out you will have jams touch wood i havent had any probs mine recycles anything
Paul223
give it a full clean, takes a few minutes, some wd40 an air line and some gun oil, then try it again if your not sure how to strip it just ask
amps23
Definitely caused by not letting the bolt slam forward on its own. However if while handling the gun you accidentally knock the bolt handle back a little bit then this will also prevent the firing pin from striking correctly. If it happens again look carefully at the primer on the cartridge - it may have a very small mark on it. Not had any other problems with this gun except it doesn’t seem to like 65mm shells of any load, so can only have one in the chamber and one in the magazine or it won't cycle every time
nobby63
Same as Amps if you miss set the cocking wont fire and if you use less than 70mm carts possible cycle probs !
