Dempy
It is because of the fires in Russia and a bad year in the States, you got feel sorry for those farmers who pre sold at £90 a tonne I think the price is going to stay up for a while

al4x
It is because of the fires in Russia and a bad year in the States, you got feel sorry for those farmers who pre sold at £90 a tonne I think the price is going to stay up for a while my mate forward sold about half of his milling wheat at £100 a tonne a while back and now has offloaded a few lorry loads of the poorest feed wheat for £145 a tonne. Looks like a good year for those that have enough and fortunately my mate was having trouble finding room to store it this year. Its definitely going to affect prices so you really need to minimise waste and use it as efficiently as possible

wy111
If your paying over £150/ton, you're been ripped off. Closing price for feed wheat this week, ex farmers price, is mid to high £140's across England http://www.fwi.co.uk/gr/fwigrainoilseed.pdf and had actually dropped slightly from last week(£2.50/ton). It seems odd, that it is being blamed on the Russian fires by the "people" who are selling, when apparently, the majority of Russian export goes to places like Egypt and Turkey because of the low Glutin content, which is ideal for unleven bread. Very little is exported to Western Europe! There was one report somewhere, that is due to the futures market and the Canadian harvest. I think, like it did the other year, when it hit £190/ton, it will drop again, so I personally am buying, "as needed", instead of 5 ton at a time.
