blister
you need a separate safe for your ammo and bolt to be stored
Oxon88
yes, ammo has to be stored seperatly. They will accept a locking compartment within the main cabinet. Good luck with the interview Edited September 14, 2010 by Oxon88
fluke2
My brother bought one of these 14.99 safes from asda and the police accepted that for bolts and ammo
CZ550Kevlar
If i were you & if time permitted run out to the shop in the morning grab a safe and install it before you FEO arrives then he isn`t going to need to come back to check the smaller ammo safe, will speed up your application. Katash
Just to clarify, there is no legal requirement for bolts to be stored separately although it is generally considered good practice.
malkiserow
I've just got mine. Advice was ... shot guns in one cab rifles in another ammo in another (I got a medium sized one from B+Q £19.99 as it is larger than the ASDA one) or in locked part within rifle cab. bolts in shotgun cab or another What did yours say today? Dekers
If you have ANY ammo/bolt safe, call it what you will, that you intend to store FAC covered items in, it must comply as a minimum to BS7558:92. I have heard a lot about people using supermarket/DIY store "Safes" and as long as they meet or exceed BS7558:92 then there should not be a problem! I don't want to start a fight but that's wrong! You have to provide adequate protection. You can fabricate your own cabinet or ammo safe that won't be BS accredited but would be passed. I take your point but the reality is any fabricated cabinet must provide the same, or better levels of construction than BS7558:92, that does not mean it has to be BS accredited! And yes, most certainly people do make their own cabinets and many are acceptable. A Pal of mine actually has a Strong Room in his basement and NO Cabinet at all, the simple fact is his steel door, Vault lock and solid stone walls far exceed the required BS standard of security and strength!...and its warm too as its right opposite the boiler room! ATB!
