andythechicken
Just wondering why so many different barrel threads for sound moderators? If you were getting a barrel threaded what thread would you choose? Cheers Andy
snowz
it can depend on what barrel contour/profile you have, thick barrel larger thread, skinnier barrel smaller thread, wouldn't work the other way round, thick barrel small thread and thin barrel large thread something like that anyway
njc110381
On a .20 and assuming it's not a heavy profile barrel I would go for 1/2" UNF. It's one of the most common sizes. In fact out of all the rifles I've ever had or bought already screwcut (six of them) they've all been 1/2" UNF!
jamie g
sporter barrels m14x1 is perfect. and heavy barrels m18 x1. this is what comes on tikka and sako varmint barrels
Paddy Galore!
It's a royal pain in the backside i know, my local gunny can only cut imperial threads with his lathe, so i got lumbered with 5/8" UNEF on my win70... What the hell is UNEF? before anyone replies i know its unified extra fine, but why?!!! i might have some fun trying to get any other make of sound mod for this puppy... chrisv
If he can cut imperial threads, why didn't he cut 5/8 x 18 UNF? That would have fitted loads of moderators
