HI ALL IV HEARD FROM A COUPLE OF PEOPLE THAT IF YOU DO YOUR DSC 1 YOU CAN ASK FOR EXPANDING AMMO FOR STALKING EVEN IF YOU HAVE GOT NO LAND BUT FOR BYING DAYS STALKING ETC.. A VERY GOOD FREIND OF MINE HAS A SMALL BIT OF LAND FOR VERMIN BUT HAS A .308 AND EXPANDING AMMO FOR STALKING WICH IS NOT REGISTERD ON THIS LAND AND HE SAID YOU CAN DO YOUR DSC1 AND GET THIS PERMISSION BUT YOU CANT HAVE A LOT OF AMMO ONLY 100 TO BUY AND 150 TO HOLD TRUE OR NOT :unsure:

I think if you're just going for the odd day, they'll advise you to use an estate rifle.

Very untrue, what has doing your DSC 1 got to do with getting anything apart from a qualification. Your friend could have simply provided a couple of receipts for paid stalking which he is going to do and that is normally enough to acquire a Deer legal rifle which will obviously include expanding ammunition if it is asked for. The ammunition allowance of buy 100 hold 160 would be ok as you wouldnt need to be in rosession of alot of rounds and 100 308 expanding rounds are not very cheap to start with. (cf ammo usually comes in boxes of 20 hence 160 hold not 150) This is one way of getting a Deer legal rifle but you can only use it for paid stalking or invites depending on what it states on your fac conditions its not a shortcut to getting a cf rifle or expanding ammunition condition to use on any permission you have.

Yep that's what I've got I'd already done DSC before I asked for expanding so I don't know if the police wouldve used it as a condition of getting it. But anyway I don't have any land of my own I've just got expanding ammo for occasional stalking

As has been said, if you get any sort of deer permission then legally you must be allowed expanding ammo as well, it isn't a will they or won't they let me have it situation, it is a legal requirement!
