Robby22
Hi sixhills 69, I dont have that calibre, BUT value for money where rifles are concerned my Tikka T3 has been absolutley faultless, great value for money! tikka.223
Agree with Robby22,have you not considered a Tikka T3?
sixhills 69
I had a Tikka T3 super varmint in .222 to heavy has put me off i have fired a Remington but only in .243 but thought it was well balanced and light compared to my old T3 (SV). CZ550Kevlar
There are certain Remmington 700 models that suffer greatly with accuracy due to poor quality stocks, they flex alot and suffer from heat. I would go X-bolt or a CZ, obviously X-Bolt is more money but you can get a good CZ for the same as a Remmington.
Pastiebap
I recently got myself an A-Bolt and am very happy with it. Nice smooth bolt, great action, and nice weight. I haven't had anything to complain about with it yet. It feels really well made and is good value for money. If I ever get something bigger I will probably get another browning. Rem223
The Remingtons with the cheap stocks (SPS/VSF) are not really very good value for money in the UK. The vssf I once had was probably the most accurate out of the box rifle I have owned, but they are expensive, not a lot less than a Sako and I know which of the two I would rather own. Given a choice though between a Remington 700 and and A bolt I would take the 700 every time. However the T3 for the money is hard to beat. al4x
I tried a T3 a while back and really felt it was too heavy and the stock was like holding a lump of plastic not my cup of tea at all. I've got a 700 sps with hogue stock and rifle basix trigger and it shoots fantastically, not particularly fussy ammo wise and shoots as well as I do. Bought second hand with about 200 shots through it for £650 including DM80 mod and rings which for me meant a well priced and surprisingly accurate gun. The plus points of the 700's is there are so many aftermarket stock and trigger options available if you like to play. Interestingly I got a standard rather than heavy barrel and I swear it actually doesn't heat up as fast and certainly cools a lot faster than the heavy barrel along with being far nicer to carry
Mr_Logic
The T3 is a light or heavy gun, depending on which variant you get. The T3 light is poorly balanced but very light. The Hunter is my choice, light and well balanced. The varmint rifles are heavier but bizarrely the balance is OK but you need a light moderator. I would take the T3 over remington or browning any day. I would take Remington over Browning if pushed to either of the two.
sixhills 69
I will have a look at the T3 light and price up a new stock for a 700 as a custom Remington sound's very nice i have heard so much about the accuracy of the rifle i understand a lot is down to the shooter as well, i just wish we had ranges like they do in the states were you can try different guns before you buy.
