ROBLATCH
an odd feed in the back may entice and associate him with something good in there.
WGD
an odd feed in the back may entice and associate him with something good in there. +1 for that idea - good association. But at 5 months I would be lifting him in and out of a Disco anyway - bones and joints are still far too soft for jumping those heights. Guest rimotu66
Thanks for the replys guys, I am trying the titbit and odd feed in the back, even put his blanket in as well but hes still the same, as soon as I put him in he goes very quiet and submissive with the odd whine, he wont even make eye contact, as soon as I get to where I'm going and lift him out hes the happy chap he normally is. Early days so will just keep trying. Hope you noticed I said that I lift him in and out guys
blacklab
start feeding him in the truck, putting him in & out each time, don't drive anywhere just feed him in there & then let him out, he will soon realise that the back of the truck is a good place to be. good luck. kent
Don't take him out when he whines take him out before he whines otherwise you teach him to whine to be taken out - very bad! Start with ultra short get up then imediate get down with good reward when in (not nessasarilly food) then work up length of time slowly every day even numerous times each day, don't force him and be patient. The only other way i know is "tough luck dog you are doing it" this might turn bad though as a shooting mans dog should look forwards to getting in the car and be cofortable spending prelonged periods in it. Feeding the dog only in the car is a progression though you might find the dog then starts whinging to be fed evertime you ask him to get up, short journeys only when the dog is fine with it to good local places park, beach etc. Good luck don't expect a quick cure but build up slow and work at it will get you to the right place
manxman2
Funny creatures, my black lad hoover would of walked over broken glass for something edible, anythiing, and his list of edible items was quite impressive.
