dickbmw
I'm looking for sensibly priced scope for a .22 rimfire, for a spot of rabbit shooting, up to about £100 - Suggestions and recommendations please... I fancy a secondhand Simmons WTC 3.5 - 10x50 if I can find one for that price but what else would you recommend - Cheers
dunganick
PM me and i can give you the site for some american sites which offer reasonable discounts, and even taking into acount postage, they are still £40 cheaper (just hope you dont get caught in customs) (although its still cheaper, but only by £5 or so)
marlin.45
Hawke/Deben seem to be well sorted and I have one on my .22 rimmy. Well within that price range. Hawke scopes range Hawke scope UK source surf around Google and you will find a load of UK suppliers. Sargeant Bang
I'd say Hawke probably. You can spend a little less than £100 and still get a good Hawke. But with a £100 budget you'll get a nice one. Marlin.45 is right too, the American sites can be cheaper, even allowing for postage! Long as you don't get nailed for VAT at customs, and that is very rare.
Axe
Have a look at the Nikko Sterling range. They have exceptionally good clear optics for the money. Edit: Im down to a choice of three scopes for mine: Hawke Nighteye Mil-dot 3-12x50 with IR/AO Hawke Nighteye 30/30 4-16x50 with IR/AO Nikko Stirling Platinum Nighteater 4-16x50 with IR/AO All around £140 but the Nikko is the best i've researched and the one i'm gonna lean towards. beatingisbest
one of my dads friends uses a 4x32 which apparently works fine but you would probably want a better one than that
rogo
For the money you want to spend there is only one. Nikko Sterling Gold Crown 4-12x50 AO. Simply the best optics for the money you can get. I stupidly sold mine and the guy who bought them said that they are the best he has looked through too. Mike. the pelt man
The best scope must be the Simmons Whitetail classic 6.5x20-50. I can get them from the states for £115.00 including shipping, 5 days delivery max. The Pelt Man
dickbmw
Thanks chaps - I just invested in a Hawke Nite-Eye 4-16 x 50 PX Adj Illuminated 3030 Riflescope from Ramsbottoms for under £90 delivered - they seem to have some good bargains at the moment. I also bought a 3-9x50 HD scope for the Air Rifle for under £30 delivered - seems good value - Time will tell !!!
