I haven't had a chance to watch Countryfile as I had to go out so I am hoping that I will be able to watch it some time on the BBC I-Player. From this post I am guessing that they used some sort of a tarpauline so that viewers did not see the creature being "dispatched" for fear of causing upset or distress to viewers. I originally removed the link for the video due to the "Adverse Comments" that were being posted on the thread, but, for those that did not see my video and wanted to I have embedded it on this post. (I hope that is OK Mods, if not please remove it) Please note however that I have done this to give people that wanted to see it the opportunity to watch it without having to leave any comments. I am not going to get involved in discussions about it on this thread so I will clarify a few points now and hope that this will be sufficient, if not please PM me and I will reply by PM rather than getting involved in any "questions or comments" which might look like they were hyjacking this thread: Please Note the following statement before watching the video: I did not make this video to "glorify the killing of a caged fox" I made it to show the quickest and (In my opinion) the most humane way of dispatching a cage caught fox for those "less experienced members" that were telling me that they were thinking of starting to use cage traps and wanted advice. The camcorder was attached to the rifle well before I first approached the trap so as not to cause any delays or unessesary suffering to the fox. (My traps are in such a position that I can see them before i get to within about 50 yards of them to see if they have been triggered so that I can prepare the rifle beforehand when necessary.) I used my 17HMR to dispatch the fox as is agreed with my firearms office - This was agreed as a "one off condition" because it could be dangerous to use my .222 on a fox at such a close range because due to the power of the rifle there was an obvious chance of a ricochet from the metal that the trap is made from, therefore Lancashire Firearms Department have authorised me to use my 17HMR for (Quote) "The dispatching of foxes caught in a cage trap" (Unquote) If anyone wants to question this maybe they would be good enough to contact me by PM and I will give the the name and direct line phone number for the officer that can confirm this!
