bruno22rf
Nail a newspaper to the side of your shed-set both scopes to the same mag then from a distance walk slowly towards the paper with one scope at a time and see which one enables you to read the print from the greatest distance-the one with the clearest optics is most likely the better quality one? Beardo
also try doing it in twilight to see which gathers light better

garden gun
Also try them "into the light"/low sun. You may get glare and actualy go "blind".
UKPoacher
Also try them "into the light"/low sun. You may get glare and actualy go "blind". The Richter is hopeless in bright light when it is anything other than behind you. Horrible optics!
bullet boy
Never seen through the Richter but the Hawke range of scopes are good value for money!
Dekers
Obvious to check yourself as has been said if you can, both should be fine on an Air Rifle (assumption there). I know the Deben Eclipse, and I know some Richter, but not this one specifically, generally they are ok but tend to be a bit on the heavy side I seem to recall! garden gun
Time to "come clean" - usea Hawke myself and a apart from direct into sun it more that cuts the mustard. Came with gun as a CH Weston package at a CLA Game Fair 6 years ago and has served faithfully knocking down my vermin problems ever since. Colster
Never been happy with a single Richter scope that I've tried but have currently three Hawkes which all do the job well.
Varmint223
Never been let down yet with Hawke scopes , even ditched an MTC Viper to go back to Hawke Eclipse 3-12x56IR L4 dot ret
