jimmyb79
That's an excellent book. Another one to try is Gundog Training Made Easy by Eric Begbie

BigBeater
Hi I have all 3 of the books suggested - I would recommend the Irving and Begbie books above the other. They both take you through things step by step and have some excellent tips on solving any issues!

cracker
I'm fond of Mr Begbie (and his books), have followed Joe Irving and St. Keith's instruction, and am of the opinion one cannae read too much if they plan on applying even half of what they've read. That said, the book to belly up to would be Mike Smith's "Working Springers & Cockers" which allows how to train almost any spaniel for anything gundog (well, almost any spaniel for almost anything) and will have you going back to it again and again. I've also heard only the most complimentary about Davey Lissett's Bucchleuch Gundogs DVD series and even more smashing reviews of his personal training sessions.
