Ireland's Finest!
Went out at about 8 this morning with the GWP seen a good few fired two shots got two birds so can't complain I'm using Eley super game no 6's 32g in bottom barrel then Remington no 5's 32g in top barell, Eley ones seem to be performing well enough but I dont think you can beat the Remington shur shot! ollie
Good shooting. 5's a bit strong for pheasant unless they are very high birds. I use either 6's or 7's.

What part of Ireland are those pheasants from? Are the Gwp a good dog to shoot over? I would be tempted by one myself. Peter Co.Mayo P.S Nice shooting. I guess the birds are a bit hardier up here Though generally tend to use 6's as well

I guess the birds are a bit hardier up here Though generally tend to use 6's as well As far as I am aware one of your countrymen (Sako) had a thread on last week where he had shot pheasants with 7 1/2's so don't think your pheasants are hardier

I'd reccomend the German pointers to anyone you wouldnt be dissapointed
Ireland's Finest!
Good shooting. 5's a bit strong for pheasant unless they are very high birds. I use either 6's or 7's. I wouldnt use a 7 to be honest I wouldnt have the faith in it to give a clean kill. 6's are perfect for the early season birds as the season goes on I'll only be using 5's. Thats just my opinion, Every man to himself

At the rate your shooting young birds you won't have a chance to use your number 5's. You should be leaving them for later on in the season. Depends on the range your shooting them at, I fire the 6 first and if I need a second shot then I'm happy knowing I've a number 5 in the second barell for whats bound to be a long range shot!
