Following the post last week in Sporting Pictures weve been out again today. DB had a text from one of our farmers that the pigeons were hammering the seed so we set out and arrived at the field to find four fields covered with approx two hundred pigeons. we set up at the top of a long bank, no magnet, just twelve real decoys, four birds came in and none went out. Thirty minutes later nothing had returned, so we packed up and went looking. We found them on some oak trees and hawthorn plantation full of berries , so we set up. After twenty birds had been in and shot it all stopped again, so we put out the magnet which accounted for a further thirty birds and it went quiet agin with birds passing high over but not decoying so we moved the magnet under one of the oak trees and the birds started to come to the trees and made some interesting shots through the branches. We ended the day with 117.

This has been the patter this year so far that the birds get spooked with the set up and we have had to keep changing the set up to keep them interested.

I agree but I always think some think woodie shooting big numbers is easy and most give up if they not in the mood and cant be bother to chase them around.

Having said that you are in a cracking area for woodies on the outskirts of birmingham.

Chris Dawson pigeon guide is shooting 1500 a week in that area so good numbers can be shot if you can shot straight and have the perms.

Keep at it my work is slacking off now and I will be starting to shoot more full time as off end of next week .

Shot 186 over combined maize today but was be ploughed in as I shot boo hoo.

Kept at OTH :good:
