Guest jonrms
:( Horrah I just went out and bought a AGS PCR1 today.. and my mate bought another precharged rifle. We also bought a air bottle.. but it seems that when i am connecting it to the air bottle to recharge... it leaks quite a bit... not sure if this may be down to the air hose or the connection.. The gun and bottle are both new.. any ideas? also this gun beats my wembley rifle (spring powered) but darn quiet... doesnt really feel like your shooting if you know what i mean.. but much better power.... lastly... is there a way to increase the power output on these safely? its running around 12lb pressure. want it around 40-50 max. thanks. Ferret Master
Hi, You need to get a Firearms Certificate (FAC) and then get a gunsmith to tune it up for you. :( As for the AGS PCR1 I don't think it would have a large enough air bottle on the rifle to get many shots out at the power that you would like. Hope this helps. FM Edited February 8, 2006 by Ferret Master
Guest jonrms
I appreciate your help. I have a FAC and dont worry either because I am covered on the fed of small bore and rifle insurance... as well. i think your right about it not having a large capacity..... the guy at the shop told me that it could fire 200 shots..... stupid me for not checking.. after i seen adds they say 50... bstrd... :< anyway dont think i will increase it.. i know the valve and pin need changed.. but then i prob will only end up with 10-20 shots if lucky... still never had a pre charged one before.. and not sure about this leak with the air... i am 99.9% sure its the air hose ... or linkage... will bring it in to my local gun smith.. hope he can have a look... maby i am doing something wrong and he will point me in the right direction... :(
Ferret Master
Hi, Make sure the hose it connected tight everywhere as I had this problem when I first started out down the PCP road. If you decide to go FAC it is probably worth getting another gun like you say. :( FM
Guest jonrms
Thank you for that.. I think I may later... gotta have some fun with this air rifle first.. its a whole differant way of shooting than wembley... lol. alot quieter.. and you think you have no power.. but it does.. just need a nice field around my way to practice on some crows..... lol :(
flash
i think you would be better off getting a rimmy instead of an FAC air rifle. but thats only my opinion. whats the PCR1 like for comfortability, as it looks like a weird stock flash
lurcherboy
Jonrms, Get a roll of PTFE tape from a plumber and take the connections apart. Use the roll of tape to help seal all joints by applying it to the threads then reconnect and tighten them. To check for where it is leaking, use some soapy water. Hope this helps. The pistol grip handle on it (i find ) much easier to use than the normal style. The stock on the rifle is great and your able to tuck it under your arms and stabilise the gun alot more quicker and comfortable than say a wembley..... Anyway.. so far so good. Will be shooting all day tommorow.. and will let you know on accuracy... I so far love the rifle.. and am chuffed to bitts over it..

Guest jonrms
Update on my new rifle..... :( completely in stealth mode... I got a early morning gull....... one shot about 50-60 yards away.. Head.. and down it fell..... about 10 minutes later got a crow.. shot in the side under its wing... (kinda lucky shot) but down that fell... it was about 40 yards away.. then a little bird that was kinda blackish.... came my way... and down it went. In short I have had a great time with it. My only complaint is the bolt is tight as..... and after a while of shooting really does get at your finger... then there is the matter of loading.. its a fidly job... but you get used to it.. overall 8-10 for a gun.. very comfortable in the shot.. and well supported with its pistol type grip.. which the stock then sits nicely in your shoulder. not bad.... lol Edited February 9, 2006 by jonrms
Axe
Jonrms, it is advisable to know your boundaries when in the field, you should have a gander here if your unsure of what you can shoot. You would also benefit from viewing the BASC Quarry Identification Guide so that you can avoid mistakes being made. Remember, if in doubt, dont shoot. :(
Axe
Jon, just a thought, but are you insured for your activities? If not, you should think about joining one of the organsiations that provide insurance with membership, such as BASC. :(
Guest jonrms
yes I have insurance.. but I think I may join the BASC as well... will help prevent stupid and pointless mistakes as I have done... Maori Haz
There's no need to say sorry :( but just keep to the quarry guide and it'll be fine! Don't just stick to targets because we told you off for doing something bad- just learn from it! Happy shooting

Jon, you havent bought it down, just so long as you have learnt. Don't be put off by a mistake. Its easy for the educated to preach but when I first started I had no idea either. Targets are good fun, but for me its in the field that I enjoy. :( Have fun with it, be safe and always identify your quarry before you take aim.
