sethb
Some big estates i know of run air lines into there lakes, the bubbles forming on the surface stop the lake freezing over, but an expensive option.

al4x
feeding enough so you have ducks on most of the time is one option as they then stop it freezing just depends how cold and for how long it lasts
TJ91
well the ducks are coming to it dusk time and leaving just before first light in the morning it is bound to freeze at some point during the day i cant get down everyday, but feed every other day with half bucket of grain topped up with spud peelings and a few rotten apples get chucked in aswell its always gone after 2 nights
pavman
i did know of a chap who put a couple of footballs in his pond, apparently moving about in the wind helps to keep the water open

alastair0903
i`ve just been paddling round my flight pond breaking ice up ! would be interested to know if there was a way to stop it freezing so easyly . i`ll goback up in the moring and see waht it looks like , on the plus side there was alot of teal feathers frozen in the ice so they must have been on when it was frozen up ?
