Doc Holliday
Does anyone hang their rabbits? Just been thinking about the 2 I've got hanging in my shed at the moment which I shot wednesday evening. They've been paunched but I thought I'd hang them for a few days to see if has any effect. Does anyone else hang their rabbits and if so how long do you give them? I did have a bit of a search on here but couldn't find anything specific. point and shoot
Any meat will benefit from hanging to an extent. This weather a week to ten days will be fine. In the warmer weather (not refridgerated) I wouldn't go for any more than a couple of days. You would of course need to protect from blow flies in the warmer weather. ollie
At this time of year I will hang a paunched rabbit for up to 5 days, but to be honest I don't notice a big difference. During the summer I usually skin them within a day.
jinxy72
i dont bother hanging as they go straight into the freezer once prep'd ... freezing has a similar effect ( as hanging ) to the meat over a period of time so i just dont bother
kent
Hung in thier jackets gutted the meat dries, when you do skin them they aint slimy and wet and bits of fluff dont stick to the meat. Enzimes also break down the toughness and the drier meat browns off nice rather than steaming when cooked
