kwagga10
Hi Guys What is the going rate to get a screwcut done? I have heard anything from £35 to £150. That is without proofing. Is proofing necessary? Does anybody know a good guy for the job in the essex area? Thank you
CZ550Kevlar
Most gunsmiths charge an hours rate for screwcutting, which is about as you say around the £40 mark, however that is on a straight forward job with a gunsmith with all the right equipment, some rifles don`t fit in a standard lathe etc because of size etc in which case a jig would need to be used etc. however only a small ammount of rifles are out of the norm. As for proofing only required if you sell the rifle. Essex gunsmiths i have no idea but i`m sure the essex massive will give you guidance. Dekers
Hi All £35 and theat was with a thread protector supplied Geordie That seems pretty reasonable as long as it was a decent job. The norn would be around the figures originally quoted, anything from about £25-£125, PLUS PROOF, is my general experience!
