Ricko
I have a Zabala 12g sbs with a broken stock, beyond repair. I have tried to obtain another stock and it doesn't look like it is going to happen. Can I make a stock from pine, stain it etc and de-activated the weapon (submitting it to B'ham for proof)to make it into a wall-hanger I have the tools and the know-how (slot the barrels, weld up within 0.5" of chamber and countersink face of action etc)
Andy H
yes anyone can do their own deactivation work.
HDAV
Might be worth either checking with FLO on the exact nature of the paperwork to get it off your SGC when you get the deactivation cert back. Worth waiting a bit longer and contacting a few more RFD's smiths for a knackered gun with good wood?
sitsinhedges
Why not make a stock from pine and just use the gun
Ricko
Hmm HDAV I take your point I have been around most of the RFD/smiths in the North West (and occasionally beyond, I carry the broken stock with me a lot of the time). I have had mixed responses from: "Forget it" to "You might pick up one", the action and barrels are great, but with no stock....
Andy H
Just send a letter to your firearms dept telling them it has been deactivated and include a photocopy of the deact cert ,Job done done it quite a few times.
Daveo26
If you can make one out of pine cant you make one out of walnut? You could "fit" the gun
bigchap
why not just sell it?
Ricko
Thanks for all the replies. Why not make a stock from pine and just use the gun - I don't think that pine will be robust enough for the job You could have a proper stock made by a stocker - Way too expensive, exceeds the value of the gun If you can make one out of pine cant you make one out of walnut? - Walnut stock blanks seem to be quite expensive, if I make a mistake then I will be gutted why not just sell it? - I am not sure that anyone would want it in its incomplete state Thanks for all your thoughts

Chris Bb
Does anyone know typically how much a gun dealer would charge to de-activate a shotgun (including proof house certification)?
