pigglet
If you use a liquid fuel handwarmer then "panel wipe" (petroleum based) as available from most automotive bodyshop suppliers is basically the same as coleman white fuel and as such can be used in handwarmers and multifuel stoves. 5lts works out about the same price as 1 ltr of coleman fuel. hawkeye
I just use lighter fuel in mine..
pigglet
Tis all the same stuff Mike. Panel wipe just works out mucho cheaper if you have access to a supplier. A 5ltr can may be a bit excessive just for handwarmer use though It's usefull stuff though.....
pigeonblasterian
There are many different types of "panel wipe" so will any of them be fine for the handwarmer.

Ferret Master
I bought a 100ml can of 'Perma Fluid' lighter fluid from a Texaco garage yesterday for £1.79. Got a handwarmer for Christmas this morning and although it became warm within a couple of minutes, it is now too hot to touch without the fabric case a couple of hours after lighting it. Guinea Fowl
I have a standard size peacock hand warmer and it only seems to keep warm for 8 hours or so, but they state 24 hours. I do fill it with lighter fluid as per instructions and although it gets hot I dont think it's gotten to hot to touch. I have used it about 6 times and have read somewhere that you sort of have to work them in, is that correct? Soz for going off topic here but did not want to start a whole new thread for this. I got a Zippo warmer recently, after previously using a cheap Peacock copy. On 1st use, the Zippo wasn't anywhere near the heat of the old one. Second fill was MUCH hotter. If it's not piping hot, then you might need to hold a flame to the catalyst again.
