HW682
I grew up near Thieves' Wood, which anybody from the Mansfield area will know. Supposed to have a connection with Robin Hood.
Blackpowder
At our Club Shoot yesterday we had drives at Three Lords Well, said to be a one time boundary between 3 estates where the owners had periodic meetings, of the well there is no sign. Also what we call Marnic but most likely Moornook, with the still deep snow we did not venture to Divot Hall, from where this came no one seems to know. AVB
We have a wood on our shoot. It's called "wood". We also have a lake called "lake" and a pond called "pond". The only strange name is a hole in the ground called "bomb hole".

woodcock11
We have got a Bomber Wood, so named because RAF aircraft were towed into the field during world war two to be repaired and they were put under the trees to hide them from German aircraft. Must have worked OK as none were attacked as far as we know.
