Evil Elvis
Why didnt he shoot it in Essex? theres tons of them round here if you know where to look.
Richie10
I have never found one in Essex. Farmers, walkers, gun shops and even a wildlife photographer I know have never seen them. I know where there are Reds, Fallow and muntjac in Essex, but it would be a revelation to know there is a place that holds Roe. :o Cheers Rich
garyb
Roe can be found in Essex, like they are also in Herts if you know where to look. Not huge numbers, but they are there.
al4x
that one we saw was the only one I've seen in Herts GB, lucky soul it was as laying down in stubble poking its head up at each squeak it looked very foxy
Richie10
I can imagine they are in Herts, just never have known them in to be in Essex. Looking at the BDS map from 2007, it shows Essex and Kent as devoid of Roe. Apart from near to Colchester but never heard of anyone seeing them there either. garyb
I've seen them at the side of the M25 !
Richie10
Where? Seen loads of Fallow by the M25 from Essex round to Herts but never Roe.
garyb
Couldn't tell you being honest, it was just a field going clockwise toward the A12 area... but I do know a Fallow from a Roe when I see one.
Richie10
The interception of the A12 and M25 is junction 28 and that field will be the place that is full of fallow. Near there is South Weald which used to be a deer park. May well be Roe there, but there is definately a large herd of fallow there.
garyb
I know where you mean, but it was simply an arable field.... A quick google also throws up - http://www.wildessex.net/sites/Bendysh%20Woods.htm

Last time I heard Colchester was in Essex from this BDS map really they could be pretty much anywhere in essex http://www.bds.org.uk/c2/uploads/roe%20deer.pdf Edited January 5, 2011 by al4x

Just curiousity really, never met anyone that has seen one in Essex. One guy told me there was a huge herd in Onger, which obviously told me otherwise.
