lazarusthealmighty
I've been told that to get permision to shoot on someones land you need to ask them. After looking at some questions on the forum i've seen alot of things on insurance and FAC. What is all this? Could someone give me a full guide on what you need to get permision to shoot on someones land, e.g. insurance/FAC Many thanks
swiss.tony
1st you need to find some where to shoot ie a farm Then you need the farmer to write you a letter to confim you ok to shoot on his land if the land is suitabile for firearms and you pass all the police checks then you can put in for a fire arms cert its not and easy thing to get a lot of hoops to jump over before you get to that stage have you got a shot gun ? the insurance thing is wat most of us have just for peace of mind 66 quid called basc seams to be the most go for but you dont have to get it by law to shoot the hardest thing is land and a nice farmer so hope that helps and good luck ps you still need permission if your shooting air-rifle or you could get done for armed trespass not good atb ....swiss

weejase
You don`t necessarily need written permission either I know a few guys that have been shooting for years who only have oral contracts with the land owners I have written permission for all the land I shoot as It saves a lot of messing about If you ever get stopped for a check by the police jase. Quite right mate. None of my permissions have given written consent other than originally signing the land forms when first got fac. Always give the farmer/landowner a 'bell' before going on they're land just to let them know im there-get stopped by the police, just get them to phone the landowner. Simples. Yes always best to call landowners before heading out but always good to have written slips..i was pulled not long back and personally i dont want the police calling the farmers..esp when its 3-4 in morning not good and was good job i did have written slips with me..saved a lot of hasle and im sure farmers wouldnt of been very happy. Mick Always let the farmer know when you are going to be on the land shooting. You could always Phone the police and inform them where and when you are shooting, they will give you incident number, when you have finished shooting phone the police again and quote the number. Belts and braces measure.

Along with kdubya there are only 2 shoots out of the many i have permission on that i call the police to inform them we will be shooting, because they are close to housing estates and in the last 3 years since we decided to ring them neither of us has ever had an incident number.. they just say OK ring us when you have finished shooting...... :good:
