First Time on the clays

Had my first introduction to a shotgun today we booked a 1 1/2 hrs 50 clay lesson each, :good: it was exactly what I hoped for :good: .

We initially had a good chat about safety in the cafe area, then where introduced to the gun and talked about fit of the gun and our eyes etc.

We then followed a few clays with the gun unloaded which i seemed to get the hang of really well. It then came to the dreaded first shot I held the gun so tight the instructor couldn’t move me a mil . He asked me to relax a few times but I just couldn’t (I’ve seen the vid of the Arabs on the shooting range when the gun flies out of their hands and knocks them over) so i held on tight really tight im only 6.1 and 19 stone and was really shocked how little recoil there was, after this point I started to relax, the nerves went away and i really stated to enjoy myself. I got my first left and right first time and hit the bolting rabbit 6 out of 6 times. The only shot I struggled with was the straight towards you and over your head which I missed 4 out of 6 times. Over all i shot more then i missed and really enjoyed it. I will be there again next week.

I would also like to thank the guys for Humberside shooting, very friendly and professional 9.5 out of 10 (i deducted 0.5 as it was a bit chilly :D ) I would defiantly recommend this ground to anyone.

Cheers

1 happy shooter

That's the one :)

It covers all the fundamentals of safe handling, shotguns, proof marks, chokes etc. I bought it when I applied and by the time i had my visit the FEO said that all the stuff he normally had to go through i'd explained in his question.

You don't have to get it but will give you a good understanding of the basics, the visit is very straight forward and friendly.

Good luck and look forward to buying your first gun :)

Jon.
