colin lad
went pigeon shooting monday and noticed that a hedgerow i had earmarked for a ferreting session due to large amount of holes had a rabbit sat outside with mixie would it be wise to stay away? will it effect the ferrets? colin
Beardo
mixie is limited to rabbits only - it doesn't affect anything else - you can even eat them / feed them to your dog (not that you'd probably want to)

Scully
It all depends how badly affected the rabbit is.You can walk right up to a severe case and despatch them with a knock to the head..my dog often walks right up to them and nips them.Others, although blind, can run like hell.I don't like digging so tend not to ferret a lot if myxi is rife. stevethefish
Dont ferret there if you intend going elsewhere, the fleas carry the disease and they will stay on your ferrets for ages until they find a suitable host. When you go to a different area the fleas will jump on to other rabbits spread the disease and hey presto the mixy has spread.

Bigbob
We were out yesterday and first bolt had myxi then the second had one eye closed .i thought sod setting 20 /50 nets for myxi rabbits so just put the ferrets in and let the lurcher mop up the bolters .Had a couple of digs a foot to two foot but ended with sixteen rabbits . my partner got a mark at nine foot i said pick up your nets have a coffee and his ferret came out so a good day all around
