Fuddster
Hi All, Driving home today and the orange engine management light came on in my 2004 Toyota Landcruiser. It went into limp home mode and was seriously slow. The handbook says its needs a health check at dealers asap. Its done 48k and due service at 50k. Any ideas Guys? If it proves expensive-how do I tell the wife she has to sell a kidney? regards Fudd
Pheasant Feeder
Got a few landcruisers at work and the only problem we've had is injectors need replacing at 60k. Can't remember if engine light comes on or not.
bruno22rf
Could be a myriad of reasons-if you look in your yellow pages you will most likely find someone local who can run a diagnostic check for much less than your dealer-most garages have computers and internet access these days and can sort these things out and save you a fortune. paulthekiller
It could be water in your diesel filter there is a censer on it
dodeer
Think it could be the above! Look on the back of your sun visor and it talks about the engine managemnt light- well it does on my 57 Hilux 3.0 d4d
Fuddster
Cheers Fella's for your thoughts... How would I check to see if it was water in the diesel filter? berties
Toyotas go to limp home to save any damage happening,it will need to have a diagnostic scan applied to the ecu to get the code off ,my old toyota did this and was the ignition coils ,try to find a local jap 4x4 chap,I always did main dealer through the warranty Good luck
Fuddster
Good News Fella's, got it on a diagnostic at my local 4x4 specialist-suspected dirty diesel and ECU went into emergency limp home. Thanks for all your pointers. A very Relieved Fuddster
biakalblaster
did you fit a new fuel filter? as would be worth it if you have had fuel problems the fuel filter has a water trap at the bottom - the water comes from the fuel and not wading the crusier!
