Bowen20
Hi guys got a .223 and want to start reloading I've never done it before and want to start buying things to get a set up going. So was wondering about what powder to use and what else would be good to get me going like the first few bSic things to buy I'm just shooting foxes at the moment but take the odd rabbit now and again. Thanks in advance.

Redgum
First purchase should be a reloading manual, then you will have a better idea of what to use and how to use it.

AndyCM
Yep, get a manual. Then decide what bullet you want to use (weight to suit your barrel twist).....50 / 55g is a good starting point. Then what powder Then where you can get it - if your local shop(s) are out of stock it can be a real pain. Good luck AndyCM
Bowen20
Hmmm cheers guys sounds like a good idea to start with a manual. Been looking at bullets by nosler and sierra ballistic tips. Seemlike good heads

Seemlike good heads Lets nip this in the bud early then... They're not heads they're bullets. The head is the end of the case with the maker stamp on it! I agree start with a manual. Around the 50gr mark is a good bullet weight and powders that suit which I have used are Varget and Benchmark. No point spending a fortune on bullets. Personally I used to use 52gr A-Max target bullets for Fox and bunnies. They're not FMJ and do fragment well. They also have one major advantage over V-Max etc and that is because they are classed as target bullets they can be mail ordered straight to your door. Expanding ammunition needs to be bought in person and your FAC must be shown which if your local dealer doesn't stock reloading kit, can be a right pain!
