Hi Shaun I normally use saturday as a recce day have a good look round, find at least a couple of hopefully decent spots, then do a bit of roosting for a couple of whirley birds.

Woke up at 8-30 on sat to a howling wind told the other half (bless her) sorry darling got to get out and blatt some woodies, ideal conditions, so fly out of my pit, load up and i'm off.

Got a rough idea where to go but when i got there thats when i had the problem, the pigeons were there all right, but in all three places, and my old mate wasn't out today. I thought i'll ring the farmer to find out where they've been in the week.

Farmer out wife says woodies been given im hell all week BUT dosn't know where.

This is what i found, 50/60 hrdcore in usual spot, the wood full, and pigeon fighting to it to it from 3 ways or just down from the wood in the valley a big old oak stands just out in the field. I've had some cracking days there in the past - one of those places where they seem to decoy well or you get alot come to the trees, good sitty trees nr the oak.

Chose the wood half way up put the whirley out in the still-ish air, still bloody cold and the sun straight in your eyes

Set up for 11am packed up 4-30 started off well then it went absolutely dead. Kept saying to myself they'll be back or is it just me that things like that.

Bloody hell don't i go on sorry  :*)

(Tell me about it - 'er indoors)

By the way, total bag 18 woodies. Roll on spring!
