aliengravy
Hi guys. I have family in America, I have been looking at the prices of non toxic shot out there and its over half price! Is there any problems with either getting it shipped over or flying back with it? if they fly it back, would UK customs want them to have a licence? Thanks. CZ550Kevlar
As this is being bought over by your family it is classed as a gift, i suppose baggage charges wouldn`t apply if they traveled light and split the shot between them, just out of interest how much weight of shot are you looking for them to bring over? I don't know yet. They are moving back in July, so they are flying lots of their stuff back already, so "spare" luggage weight will be unlikely! But I can only ask! I will also get them to look into postage costs for me. If they post it to me, will I get hit with the import tax and so on then?
Vince Green
Any parcel coming into the country is liable for import duty. Don't be fooled into thinking "gifts" are exempt its a misconception. If your family are coming back into the country their goods will be "re-pat" and coming by container. Try and get your shot into the container before it leaves. Edited January 23, 2011 by Vince Green

Bringing it in a container that is being paid for already by someone else makes it free for you. Thanks Rick
verminman
they only put vat on if over £
Vince Green
they only put vat on if over £18 If the value including carriage ( ie full invoice value) is over £18 and it will be or else its not worth the trouble. You pay VAT on the carriage as well. Be careful also, the invoice will be in dollars but probably won't state that clearly so the idiots in British Border Agency will take the price as being in pounds not dollars and charge you too much. I've had that happen to me in the last few weeks and you don't get it back. They don't give refunds on errors below a certain value (I think its £100) The carrier is responsible for collecting the duty off you and may add a handling charge on top. Parcelforce I think is £8 Edited January 25, 2011 by Vince Green
