Dekers
The chap at Northampton Gun where I bought mine told me that was why it wouldn't hold zero - it wasn't free-floating and it wasn't. He made the barrel free-floating and now it's bullet on top of bullet accurate and holds zero perfectly. So in my experience I'd say the barrel needs to float. Duncan My stock is beech and it is the heavy barreled varmint model. Edit As I understand it these are the only CZ rimfires that are meant to float, but who knows, time moves on! This whole floating/bedding/badly fitting malarkey can make a little or lot of difference to bounce, harmonics, accuracy etc, but on some light/soft/flexible stocks with gentle ammo like .22lr subs it can sometimes make little perceivable difference. It does generally become more of an issue on hardwood stocks, and or, bigger calibres. Whatever, a good engineered and appropriately well fitting stock will always have the edge (and sometimes a lot more than just an edge). The Duncan
Did you ever shoot an SLR? you could pretty much see the barrel resonating! Awesome. And they were very accurate. In comparison the SA80 sucks. Edited January 25, 2011 by The Duncan
SilentKill
Love my Ruger in it's Boyd stock, now that's free floating!
The Duncan
Lovely bit of kit! Lighter than suits my preference, I'd imagine but certainly a nice looking rig. What's the accuracy like? Duncan
artschool
i didn't realise you had to do so much work to the cz's.

Duncan It's my target gun accurate to 50 yards ( that's it's maximum range on a course of 1500) and used down to 10m on turning targets. Mostly used between 10-25. It's very light with the carbon barrel and stock. It don't care what ammo it uses it will run anything. I have another one with the same stock (different colour) with the volquartson target barrel. wildfowler.250
I'm not sure if you have a scope already but I would look into that first. I think a Meopta 7x50 is a nice scope for a .22,(however scopes can be a very personal thing so I would look at a few). The other thing I would say is look for a second hand cz. Purely because a .22 sub isn't going to wear the barrel away. If you buy second hand and move it on, you shouldn't loose out too much. Added to this is that you usually get bits and pieces like spare mags included if you shop around. Sak mod and Harris bipod with the swivel and you're away The finnfire is a more solid gun. You won't come home with less rabbits with a cz. Just food for thought. If you prefer an Annie or weihrauch ect then go for it. Just trying to point out that CZs are good quality guns. Also by all means go for a new rifle, just keep an eye out incase any good deals come up! Enjoy choosing
