The Burpster
Had a vacant slot on my FAC and having wanted a multi shot for serious pigeon expeditions (do have a Beretta Urika 3shot)I did a deal on a new one from my dealer. As the 'official' 7+1 isnt currently avaialable in the UK and I could only get a 4+1 from GMK then thats what I ordered but also got a mag extension from Midway. Had a couple of trips out with it now and whilst I had a couple of missfeeds on the first trip (using RC T3 28gm) after a complete strip and clean, it would seem its breaking in nicely. I'm very impressed with how little residual powder is left in the action - this is not like a Beretta gas powered auto and is nothing like a Ruger 10/22 for burnt powder debris. Handling is a bit odd with the mag tube full - next trip out I'm gonna try just loading 5 or 6 shells to see if that livens it up a bit. Overall tho' I can now see why these have such a devoted following. A very very capable semi-auto. Oh and if a bird with each barrel with an O/U is a left and right what is 3 or more with a semi called..?

Grandalf
I use a Benelli Black Eagle for 'fowling. 26" barrels/3.5" chambers - a super gun. Getting out of my small boat, for a pee, I dropped the gun into six inches of water and two feet of mud! The whole gun and mechanism can be stripped without any tools so this I did - laying all the springs and 'widgets' very carefully (and in the correct order) in the bottom of the boat. Having cleaned it all I was about to start the reassembly. Thats when a sheep appeared over the river wall, which caused my dog to charge off the boat, which sent all the 'bits' all-over the bottom of the boat which was full of all the usual hide nets, decoys, ropes, anchors, etc. Took me two hours to find the complete gun and reassemble it! Provided you use suitable cartridges with enough 'poke' they never let you down. It's a 'tripple' around these parts. Testament to their bomb proof design though Plus, the lack of all those heavy carbon gathering pistons up front makes for a lovely slim fore-end. I love my Benelli! How light is the recoil in 20g? Musing about getting m'lady one.

You've dodged a bullet there! The long mag(7? meh! ) version is restricted to just that magazine. By getting the short mag FAC version you can put any length mag on you want I almost fell in to that trap too, as i mainly use mine for PSG it would've been a disaster as you have to hacksaw the end off :yp: Mark
The Burpster
How light is the recoil in 20g? Musing about getting m'lady one. Its quite a fast light gun (I like 'em like that) so its not bad with the 28gm loads - not tried it yet with the 24gm skeet loads but I guess it will be OK - TBH it feels a little more savage than my AL391 Urika 26" 3 shot. Are you using a Nordic Extension, Choate or Daves? I got a Nordic and its a top peice of kit!
Breastman
Yep Nordic for me too, I've got the +6 mag on mine with a 24" barrel so it's almost flush Mark
silverhawk
Mine was 7+1 fixed so i had to buy the lower tube to convert it to 9+1 with an extension.I was happy with 8 rounds but then thought an extra 2more rounds would be nice and bring it level with my 26inch barrel
The Burpster
Do you two guys use yours for PSG only or for live targets..? I havent quite put my finger on it yet but mine definitely handles differently to an O/U or 3 shot semi...... I believe it is to do with balance point varying as you use shots and the COG shifting back towards the butt as you release shots form the mag. I believe it is to do with balance point varying as you use shots and the COG shifting back towards the butt as you release shots form the mag. I mainly use mine for PSG but occasionally take it out for pigeons, especially when there are big flocks that you only get a crack at once an hour or so I don't know if i'm just used to it but i don't notice any weight issues with my M2, whether i've just got 2 carts in for clays or if i've got 11 in for PSG I'm average build and i'm certainly not a gym-bullneck so i don't know what it is! Obviously if i was rough shooting with it i'd notice but with PSG and clays you're only holding the gun for 1, maybe 2 minutes, and shooting pigeons the gun is resting in my lap so i've never had an issue. I do find a marked difference in handling characteristics between shooting my O/U and my semi though Mark Edited February 10, 2011 by Breastman
The Burpster
Mark, I think I have been spoilt with my Urika as its really quick. The M2 when full feels a bit sluggish in comparison but the COG issue is an obvious one. I got mine for that exact scenario you mention above - big flock...! Oh and rabbit bolts from ferrets.
