haggis
|Does anyone use a LIve pigeon gun side by side like the old hammer guns with high ribs? wondered what they are like to use? are they any good for pigeons? I have seen a couple of new'ish spanish guns with multi chokes like Aya 722. Haggis
seeker
Have used a couple .. one was a Greener, do not remember what the other was ... from memory they shot very much like a trap gun, .... nearly bought a Blue Rock a few years ago - 1920s, 32' hammer with a raised rib and well heavy ... mudpatten
I`ve used a borrowed hammerless Greener Blue Rock on woodies. They are set up to shoot high like a trap gun and I found it completely unsuited to shooting woodies since they are designed for a very predictable type of rising and going away shot. Like anything else you could make one work but you`d be much better of with something less unsuitably specialised. I`m sure you realise that they were designed for shooting live pigeons released from traps and not wood pigeons.

I read in a mag Ithink the field a bloke was using a purdy pigeon gun for his woodys and was quite handy with it by all accounts. What sort of rib does it have? Thought a flat rib was a standard pigeon gun trait? Haggis Edited February 14, 2011 by haggis
