First day on new permission

:shoot: I had my first day out on a new permission today (gained with assistance from huffhuff thanks Ben) :good::drinks: .

Having been informed where the pigeons were by the farm manager I duly set off to the chosen spot. A few slippery and bum clenching moments in the 4x4  decided me to get better tyres fitted, but I did not get stuck (please note Blackla and Philr):lol: I made it to where I was to set up my hide. A good spot tucked under a Holly bush with covercrop in front :good: , I duly laid out the decoys in a very wide horseshoe pattern with 2 bouncers set wide to the right but close together.

The pigeons came in steadily, in fact the pattern worked so well they were commiting too close to the hide :good::lol: , but that is pleasing in itself, confirming that the pattern is good.

I finished the day with 12 birds and the knowledge that I should have had perhaps 6 more, I decided that tomorrow I will re position 100 yards further down the tree line as the birds flighted from that area all day :good::good: .

As I left and drove back towards the boundery I could see a field blue with pigeons on the opposite side of the road :oops::):) , but still within my permission :good: , so have changed my mind as to where to set up for tomorrow.

The permission has bags of potential and I am really looking forward to trying out the many differing hide positions available.

On Thursday the farm commences drilling, so a good few days to look forward.

I am now trying to find someone to come out with me at short notice for tomorrow morning and afternoon, I suppose it would have been easier to say all day :hmm::hmm::shoot::shoot: .

Roll on tomorrow, I will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

shame you couldn't make it last week - not that you were missing much, but it's been a while!

you free next week?

Hi Beardo

Out on the pigeons Saturday Sunday and Wednesday, free the rest of the week, but out again on Saturday.

How did I ever find the time to go to work?

Shame about last Saturday, but I had a similar result myself 11 hours 1 shot no kill.

Cheers

I'm thinking Tuesday?

I managed a heady 8 for 8 hours!

Tuesday sounds good.

What where and when? I am the brewery tour today leaving at about 11.00, if I do not hear before I will get back to you this evening/ early tomorrow morning, I will apologise for the garbled reply, grammar and spelling mistakes in advance.

Cheers

Terry
