bigben
I want to strip the varnish off my beretta 686 special to give it an oiled finish like my other 686 has got. Just wondering what anyone may suggest to remove to varnish? I'm thinking paint stripper but what type?? Is there a specia one of gun wood?? eddoakley
I like the nitromors aerosol type Just found it that bit easier to apply and clean off and seemed to do the checkering a bit easier. Edd
Scully
Have just done my game gun.Used nitromors with fine wire wool and a toothbrush for the checkering.Neutralise with white spirits then wash this off with clean water.Once thoroughly dry(may take a few days)rub down with 0000 wire wool then rub in a grain sealer. Then once dry apply your oil. arjimlad
Sorry to be boring but I have also used Nitromors on 2 stocks now and it has been very good at softening the varnish & making it easy to scrape off.
