Advice on permission letter

Recommended Posts

Hi Guy's i am after some advice on how to word a permission letter for the farmer to sign (if this is in the wrong section then Mods please move and i am sorry)

One of my permissions is a 100acres and i have been shooting for the last year and the land owner is very happy with what i do, the farmer that owns the adjoining land has given me verbal permission to shoot on his land as well.

But

As i have a closed ticket i need to send a letter to the police with his signature on it, he owns quite a bit of land in the area and being a busy man has told me to knock up some sort of letter.

The question is do i have to list every peice of land or can i state on the letter to the police "as cleared land held on file"??

I Know some people say that you do not need to do this by law But I believe each regions Constabulary have different expectations and rules.

Any Advice would be great thanks.

Thanks Mate i have got that link its more do i need to just have his permission in writing or do i have to list the land which has already been cleared by our local firearms dept.

Thats handy as I've looked through my old posts but couldn't find it

I'm afraid I can't help with the police issue, How about getting the BASC Permission slip signed up and maybe the adjacent farmer can give you a map showing his fields/land, then you write to the Firearms Licencing manager detailing what you've been doing, your experience and how ever long you have had your existing ticket and request they either add this land to your ticket or better still, amend your ticket so that its open

The girls on Leic's reception will tell you if that land is cleared over the phone, which it seems you have done to know it's been cleared. As you will probably have been advised, Leic's instruct closed ticket holders that written permission must be obtained. If it HAS been cleared, you don't have to send in permission, they will 'tag it to your file - you only need the written permission to produce on request in the event of a call out or query, unless you are satisfying a "good reason" to acquire a previously ungranted caliber due to unsuitable land.

For mine, I have just sent in the form I use (attached) which just states the postal address of the farm and landowner's details.

As said above though, if I have had verbal confirmation over the phone from the FLO that the land is sufficiently cleared and I have permission, I'll start shooting on there.

I always like to have it in writing and my FEO has asked for this in writing before from me before going out to survey land that has never been cleared.
