DaveK
Is this forum starting to go like some others and being subjected to censorship rather than moderation or am I missing the point? It seems that a few topics very recently are going a bit that way. Not wanting to be confrontational but getting a wee bit concerned, someone put me right please? Dave PS I can be as bad as the worst if need be, but came on here because it wasn't happening. Now it seem as though it's starting. B) B) :< :< :<
Hunter
With all the antis, and law abiding people around you have to be carefull what gets printed on here. I think the mods have and are doing a good job of keeping it clean, as I am also a moderator for a forum I know that its tough to delete peoples posts, but sometimes you have to.. just to protect the forums and other members
DaveK
I don't disagree to a point but theres a line to be crossed both ways that always seems to be crossed one way only. You mods need to take care that the line isn't crossed the other way (which it appears to be in danger of doing). dave
Cranfield
What you may be noticing is a post by a Moderator stating that a post, or posts, has been deleted. That did not use to happen, so most members would not know about any deletion (s). The only censorship here is bad language, when people use barely disguised versions of unacceptable words, to get round the Forums auto censor, or post unacceptable jokes. Nonsense, or insulting posts will also be deleted, but that isn't censorship. Quite a few of these deletions are the result of other members reporting offending posts. Personally, I wouldn't visit or post on a Forum that had Rules and Policies that I did not agree with. I'm sure our members all feel the same way.
DaveK
1. What you may be noticing is a post by a Moderator stating that a post, or posts, has been deleted. That did not use to happen, so most members would not know about any deletion (s). No probs with that. 2. only censorship here is bad language, when people use barely disguised versions of unacceptable words, to get round the Forums auto censor, or post unacceptable jokes. Totally agree with the bad language bit but unnaceptable jokes can be very subjective. There are OBVIOUS ones that shouldn't see the light of day considering that kids may be viewing or that they are designed to cause offence. But otherwise one mans good joke is another mans unacceptable one. Don't go PC on us please. :*) :*) 3. Nonsense, or insulting posts are also be deleted, but that isn't censorship. No argument there from me. 4. Quite a few of these deletions are the result of other members reporting offending posts. I refer you to my response to point 2. Whats unacceptable to one may be acceptable to many others. How many objections does it take for mods to take action? One or more than one?? 5. Personally, I wouldn't visit or post on a Forum that had Rules and Policies that I did not agree with. I'm sure our members all feel the same way. That's why I'm here on PW rather than on forums that have started off well but gone adrift. I'd hate for this one to go the same way. henry d
There was a time on here, around the time I joined, when the whole place was either factual and accurate or a chimps tea party. It started to become just a chimps tea party so the mods got involved and sorted it out. People were banned and worse than that people left and some didn`t appear again, and who could blame them? I even had my knuckles rapped at the time(rightly so in retrospect) So the question is do we want a free for all? or do we want to get back to the good old PW where question s and tips were swapped and legs were pulled in a nice manner?.......Or do we watch it slide into abusive attacks and where threads are hi-jacked to become chat rooms? Have a look at the threads over the last week and see if they aren`t like I say. When I became a mod the forum was OK very little to do,then there were topics which were either ill informed or illegal and it seemed to wind people up,perhaps on the back of that people have been a little sensitive, myself included. Remember it`s Teals site and the rules are to be obeyed, but we can have fun and learn stuff that will encourage the newer members into the sport and that will prevent any moves by anti`s and tree huggers to stop us.It is THE best site IMO and I will try my best to keep it that way. That`s all folks
Nildes
If everyone replied to the posts and not the poster there shouldn't be a problem. Once you attack another poster personally, the flame wars start. Shoot the message, not the messenger
Devilishdave
On the whole I dont see any problems with moderation on this site. Keep up the good work guys. Dave
DaveK
If everyone replied to the posts and not the poster there shouldn't be a problem.Once you attack another poster personally, the flame wars start. Shoot the message, not the messenger  I agree totally with that and with Devilishdave in the next post. Obviously we don't want the site to go like some others, (I'd be away like a shot), but still need flexibility for opinions about anything we want to talk about. Whether people agree with it or not. We all say things that others don't like but that's not necessarily a reason to delete the posts (I'm not saying that's what's happening on here but we need to be careful it doesn't get to that stage, again, as it has on other forums). I agree this is probably the Carlsberg of forums at the moment and we need to keep it that way. If that means moderation then sobeit but as well as supporting the mods members should point out things that could possibly go wrong so they can be avoided.
