Mrs BB is asking what I want for my birthday which is imminent. I fancy one of those simulated driven days where you blat off a couple of hundred carts or more in a day :D Has anyone done one in Gloucs (or Oxon/Wilts) they would recommend?

Cheers for the suggestions, I shall ring around to get some info. I'd be interested to hear the opinions (good and bad) of people who have done one of these. How much did you pay, was it good value, what was the format of the day and how well was it organised, what were the targets like, how many cartridges did you use. That sort of stuff :good:

And anything else you think is of relevance! :D

I did one a few years ago near Evesham. I think it was £100 per gun for the day, including lunch.

There was 16 guns in total. We shot four drives(each one twice) where I loaded for my mate, and then we would swap around and he loaded for me. Each drive they threw 1400 clays over 8 guns in 15 minutes! We all used over 800 carts for the day, while some guys shot the optional 5th drive and went well over the 1000 mark.

Not good on the gun either. Mine got so hot that the fore end catch was burning my hand.

It was good fun but also hard work. Not something you would do regularly, but I would do it again.

The NGO run a simulated game shoot every year at Lambton Estate up in Durham for teams of four guns. One of the best days shooting I and my mates have ever had. Duck shooting from spruce and fir pupose built hides over ponds ,a partridge drive ,two driven one definitely a pheasant drive, and a decoyed pigeon shoot also a rabbit drive ,and also duck shoot off a bridge over the river. Plus a few pool shoots. We were talking to some lads who said they and some teams of gamekeepers travel all over the country shooting these events. So they must put a few on, if any are within travel distance of you it's definitely worth doing.
