mikky
my mate wants to buy my .308 on his newly acquired ticket and i then want to buy another .308 to replace it. do i have to send my fac off to gtr manchester police and re apply for a new .308 slot ,in other words does the slot go with the rifle ?i have a .44 on my ticket which i am not going to use so i could do a " one for one " and lose the .44 slot at no further cost. i thought you could sell one firearm and replace it with another of the same calibre providing you inform the police within 7 days. so,what is the correct procedure, any advice as usual will gratefully accepted
miffy
You should be able to just have the .308 put back on your ticket without doing a one for one variation. You will have to send your FAC into the firearms dept though to have the .308 put back on.... thats how i understand it anyway!!!!! I got a "mint" silenced .308 for sale by the way just incase you are after a tikka

kip270
10.51 A variation is always necessary if a certificate holder wishes to change one of the firearms, even if they wish to purchase one identical to the one they are selling (Wilson v Coombe, Queen’s Bench Divisional Court, July 1988). “One for one” variation refers to firearms that are authorised to be acquired at the same time as one is being disposed of. For practical purposes this is normally taken to be within seven days. The use of authorities which can be kept open indefinitely should be discouraged. Applications for “one for one” variations should be made by the certificate holder submitting their firearm certificate together with a completed form 101 to the police firearms licensing department. Such variations are processed free of charge. In most cases, it will not be necessary to re-examine the applicant’s circumstances. Further inquiries will be necessary, however, if for example the application is for a change of use or for a full-bore firearm when the holder’s shooting club only has facilities for small-bore shooting. miffy
There will only be a charge if you add to your firearms, you will be just having your .308 put back on so there should be no charge

miffy
You can't sell it and buy another because it will be entered on your ticket that you have bought a .308 already and you don't have anywhere on your certificate to say that it has been sold. The certificate will have to be sent to the firearms dept along with notification that the .308 has been sold and thet will then put the .308 back on your certificate..........for free
Dunkield
You can get a temporary variation to have the 2 and get rid of the first one. Speak to your FEO for clarification though.
mossy835
as mb, said you must put in for a 1 to 1 variation.
