Novice
Can anyone give a view on the 'new generation' of led lamps and whether they are an improvement on the likes of lightforce, tracer max and the like? I've a mate looking to buy a gun mounted lamp and he asked my views. I've no experience of the led stuff, but they seem a lot smaller than the usual fayre. Id have thought they would be fairly underpowered and have a tighter beam? I personally find led light quite harsh over the usual 'yellow' light. sixhills 69
Hi Mate check out the Led Lenser range they have an adjustable beam and with a range of upto 200meters for the size and weight they are brillent i used one a few weeks ago and have now purchased one. also if you look round you can buy filters and pressure switches. problem with lamps like nightforce is the weight of the battery nice to see 600yrds but would'nt shoot at that distance check them out just google Led Lenser p7 hope this helps
cooter
I have a Led Lenser head torch, and, as already said, they are fully adjustable, and the edges of the light are clearly defined. I changed the bulb in my Stinger from a very fragile Xenon to a CREE 300 lumen LED about two years ago, and it is still working fine. It works right down to a completely flat battery, last longer, and shines a very long way out. I would recommend an LED.
stokie
Another vote for lensor P7 Got mine through work with gun mount kit and micro pressure switch for £59 they are so compact and give perfect light out to 150 yards they work well on a rimmy because you can see further than you can shoot.... Kev just think led is the way forward 800lumin's to 1000 is as good as a light force 140-
vole
I just got the Lenser T7 and it is really good . Same as the P7 pretty much . I can recommend a cheapie LED which is smaller than the Lenser but has a good zoom and makes a useful light for .22 rf or air rifle . http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CREE-LED-240-Lumen-3W-Zoomable-Torch-Flashlight-Light-/250790399211?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item3a6445cceb#ht_2985wt_1132
shoughton
I fancy a lenser T7 (or P7) too - but was concerned if there was sufficient adjustment on the gun scope mount to allow to focus the beam to where I'm aiming? My current lamps have up/down adjustment that permits that - but the lenser gun mount looks fixed? Any experience of this mount would be very interesting? vole
The cheapie velcro mounts seem to work fine especially if you zoom out to a broader beam if you need to . Easy to put on and take off and can take knocks without bumping your scope off zero .

stokie
The lensor T7 gun mount is like a double U shape with a knurled nut in between one side clamps the lamp and I clamp the other to the mod then Velcro the pressure switch to the front of the stock underneath my thumb position
