mrikirkby
Any body use a trooper as a shooting truck and if so what they like ? I recall one of them being bit troublsome but unsure if it is the 3.0 or 3.1 ??

mrikirkby
got a petrol freelander at the moment but only 2 wheel drive but its handy cos the back comes off for lamping. Father in law wants to swap for his trooper which is obviously a lot better of road which would be handy aswell and being deisel its going to be more reliable than those petrol K series engines although mine has never had a problem ! petershearing
Running two at the moment 3.1van and a3.1lwb both been very reliable a bit thirsty. The 3.1 is a better engine and more reliable had the 2.8 first and that would go anywhere When first wanted a 4x4 looked around found alot of farmers using them .Had isuzu now for 15yrs looking for another repair vehicles for a living so good luck if you buy one
paul041075
3 litre troopers had problems with the injectors, however Isuzu have still been doing recalls and up holding warranties on 10 year old plus vehicles. (Find another manufacturer who will do that!) Look at http://www.itocuk.co.uk/ where there is loads of details. Use mine on and off road for everything including camping, shopping, dog walking and shooting. Even pulled a Landy 110 on a flatbed trailer not so long back with relative ease and not too bad on juice. Make sure everything works OK including shift on the fly 4wd, although dont worry too mnuch if it doesnt work there is the cheaper fix by cleaning the front axle solenoids, can be ******* to start and glowplugs awkward to change but find a good one and you will have few worries. Engines are good for alot of miles, mine has 80 thousands on an S plate and is just about run in!
Paddy Galore!
Any body use a trooper as a shooting truck and if so what they like ? I recall one of them being bit troublsome but unsure if it is the 3.0 or 3.1 ?? i had an early 2.8, brilliant little truck, much better than the later 3L model. mrikirkby
Well i done the swap for the petrol freelander and I am well chuffed, not quite so refined as the freelander but i cant see me getting stuck in it unless i do something really stupid !! Its the 3.1 ltr and is not bad on juice probably as good if not better than the freelander and its little petrol engine. All in all i think i got a good deal, just gotta wax oil underneath it as its a bit dry but very solid stiil and all the 4x4 works just fine which makes a change to the freelanders excuse for a 4x4 system which i had to remove before it blew its self to bits !
