Cranfield
If you have any linseed on your properties keep an eye on it. I have never seen many pigeons on the few linseed fields planted in my area, either after drilling or when first sprouting. Its a crop I have long ago marked down as not too high on the pigeons list. However, this year two adjoining fields have been getting a lot of attention straight from the drilling. I have had a some very successful shoots over them for the last few afternoons, with the birds really committed and returning quickly. shoughton
Interesting advice. One of my permissions normally grows lots of peas - but this year has switched to linseed. They were all over it within a day - but only for 3 or 4 days. But it is just shooting through - so we'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the headsup! Catamong
There are a couple of fields of Linseed in our area, the birds were on it prior to Christmas, but since the heavy snow in December they've not been interested. Cat.
Mightymariner
Heading out on some linseed tomorrow, been in for a couple of weeks and just come up - been very dry. Pigeons on it today and farmer set up a gas gun to keep them off so fingers crossed. Mind you, keeper called me about some rape he thinks is being hammered, so may have a look there first - haven't seen the field so would be going in blind. To be honest I think the linseed will pay dividends but you always have that feeling you are in the wrong place and every bird in the area is on the other field you could have gone to!
