gazmo
Hi, First off, a big hello to you all. This seems like a good community you have here by what ive read so far. I currently have a hw90 gas ram with a hawke HD scope. I find it more than accurate enough for me (consistently grouping £2 coin size area at 25 meters) BUT after using it a lot more lately im starting to tire of the weight, noise and having to reload/cock after every shot. Ive never had anything but springers and gas ram so im pretty clueless about the shots per charge and running costs of any other type, eg, pumps and gas bottles, etc Im looking for a secondhand, light, non fac, multi shot rifle with a good silencer. Any advice?
kent
looking for secondhand means you take what comes up that you like when you see it. But Air arms and Theoben and daystate are usually wise buys. The air arms s200 can be retro fitted with multishot if it must be a multi, examine the multi shot thing closely though to my mind it can make for more hassle for the gains you get
gazmo
thinking about it, i suppose multishot isnt a make or brake. The air arms S200 looks fantastic and from some of reviews ive read is very accurate. has anyone an idea of how much a pump/adapter deal would be? I think from what I've seen an air cylinder and hose is in the region of £180 - £200 upwards and a decent Stirrup type pump with moisture filter around £150 ish, again it pays to shop around and ask about. pabs
Spend as much as you can on the air tank, it will save you in the long run. Spend a bit more and go for a 300bar tank, as big as you can afford. For what extra a 300bar 12tlr tank cost than say a 232bar 7ltr tank costs, you get WAY more fills. And try and buy new. You'll get a full five year test then, you know the tank is safe plus your hoses will be new and safe. Edited April 27, 2011 by pabs
bruno22rf
I cant recommend the S200 highly enough-hold on for a multi if thats what you want cos they surface quite often. If you buy second hand you should be able to pick up a tank with whip and gauge-3ltr 300 bar for around the £100 mark. You can carry these little pcp,s for days without straining anything and put pellet on pellet at any reasonable hunting range.Sold mine in a matter of hours and spent double on a replacement gun-biiiiiiig mistake as its not twice the gun. swift
if you can stretch your budget go for the air arms s410 they can not be beaten for the price.I service a lot of these rifles for a few full time pest control friends and they are very good. Dynamic85
Agreed, the S410 is the way forward. Plus I find having a multi shot is much better for hunting than a single shot.
HEAD SHOT NO1
Be sure your getting value for money the s200 was value for money not so long ago and now it is silly money I would advise a s400 or BSA scorpion instead. They are not far off the weight of the HW Im pressuming you are small framed? BSA Ultra single shot tactical for £270 in my book is the lightest and best value you can get, quicker to load then the multi shot version.Been a ehile since ive bought new but last I seen s400 was £300-340.as advised 300bar bottle is what you want in any litre above 7 but a used pump for £50 on a bsa ultra is cake. If moneys no problem get a falcon 12-18 multi shot real light and a 12-15litre 300bar bottle or atleast 7litre 300bar I go against the advise of only buy new as they can be bought on fleebay in date cheap due to weight of post they dont make much.I bought a 15l 300 bar with gauge/clamp 6month test for £25 and bought a new pipe that is how much of a saving to new?oh and then it went straight threw test for £40 still work out the saving. I fill buddy bottles with 15l and take my 7l carbon in car with me. Prices have increased stupidly on guns and equipment,I guess these people dont suffer from the resession

Yep, as we talked about last weekend - that's where you need to be again mate, IMHO of course To the OP - if you don't like the weight that Weihrauch make guns at, even the superlative autoload of the HW100 variants will not sway you. That said, I've not shouldered the sporter carbine version. The S200 is a hulluva lot more gun than its size/weight suggests. Duncan
