john1966
Hi I've been watching the forum for a while and impressed with the level of help and quality of information offered here. Hopefully, I will be able to contribute to a similar level, in due course! I've only been shooting a short time. I started with some lessons at a club not too far away from me (which weren't that great) and more recently had a few lessons at North Wales Shooting School, with the excellent Brian McCormack, which, in my case, were much more worthwhile. I now need to get some experience/practice in and looking for someone in a similar situation to shoot with, maybe on a weekly basis. South Cheshire/North Wales preferred. Thunderbird
Hi John, welcome to PW. Sometimes I go with a buddy to Griffin Lloyd which is not that far from you. (Lovely ground too). I'll give you a shout next time we go. What type of clay shooting interests you the most, skeet, sporting, DTL..etc?

My first try was in Scotland late last year....a couple of guys i fish with up there are members of a small local club that have a DTL set up. Had a go there and was hooked but only shot Sporting during lessons. Will leave Skeet and DTL until I've a little more experience! KenG
Has to be Fauxdegla John, the only decent ground in North Wales. The best discipline to start with is skeet as it incorporates most variations of targets, crossers, incomers, going way, and quartering. When you get confident, move on to sporting. HDAV
I must admit sporting is all I do, but each to their own. Me too but skeet is a good place to start and often easy to find away from sporting grounds (takes far less space to set up than sporting layout and only needs 2 traps) Supposed to be a decent place manchester way Albert find a skeet layout on quiet day and some to guide you (you dont have to shoot it as in the comp format, just bash away for a few boxes of carts) Edited May 5, 2011 by HDAV
Albert 888
Cheers for that HDAV.i may try mid week after work when its raining.

I've only been shooting for three months. I have a bash at everything. The skeet & DTL is in front of the clubhouse & plenty of people who will stand over my shoulder if asked to offer advice. Don't be afraid most people want to help & those that don't are probably not that great themselves!
