Coolhead
When police received the alert, they were also told the man was wearing camouflaged clothing and a balaclava. LINK Oh god! The hysterical public! I wonder how they remember to breathe!
rcooke25552
Oh no, there is a kid with a bb gun. Quick, ring 999, it's Derrick bird. I wouldnt be surprised if the toy was painted bright orange. This kind of publicity is not what we need in this already frowned upon sport.

Dave 101
No doubt they kept the gun [ toy ] to play with when they get back to the station to while away the long hours , sorry being flipant . you can bet it goes down in the statistics as a resolved firearm incident and will be used against legal shooters in the future as to why guns in private ownwership is a bad thing . DSPUK
Can someone tell me when police get these reports do they get the callers details and confirm them first before acting on a hysterical report by public --One man was shot dead for carrying a chair leg - to my mind the person who reported he was carrying a sawn off should at the leaast be done for manslaughter as he was the instigator -- don't tell me the guy should have dropped chair leg as if it was you and you heard a shout "POLICE drop the gun" you would look round to see who they were shouting at. - Dave
Frenchieboy
Why did they keep the bb gun? The answer to that question is quite simple and easy to see! They needed to keep the BB gun (No doubt, as has already been said, painted bright orange) as a "vital piece of equipment" so that they can use it to teach other new recruits how to over-react to future "firearms Incidents" involving children under 12 that are out playing at being "Starsky and Hutch"! It's either that or one of the "officers" has a son who is coming up to his 5th birthday and couldn't think what the kid might like for a birthday present!
