al4x
oh well thats only 3 renewals and a couple of variations they've guessed right so far and I'll bet Charlie can improve on that number by a fair few it would be a poor FEO who didn't put the expanding condition on whether asked for or not. CharlieT
Alex When the expanding ammo restrictions came into place we did not have to send our fac's in for amendment but were permitted to continue to buy expanding, provided we were not target shooters, for the duration of our existing fac's. On renewal it was automatically added to our fac's. I can honestly say I has never occurred to me to request it, it just appears as if by magic. I have had a look at the "Guidance" to refresh my memory and noting that it says "must be conditioned to include expanding ammunition" I presume that there is no need to request it. For information I append below the relevant section. 4.5 Persons who wish to acquire expanding ammunition for any of these purposes must first satisfy the chief officer of police that they have a “good reason” to possess a firearm for any of the above. Once this “good reason” requirement has been satisfied, the shooter’s firearm certificate or visitor’s permit must be conditioned to include expanding ammunition and, for home loaders, the bullets for such ammunition. The condition should restrict the use of the bullets or ammunition to the precise purpose for which it is intended (see paragraphs 3.31 and 4.7). barney 66
When my variation came back when i added .17hmr,they had missed off expanding ammo for the .17hmr,i could buy it for my .22 and .222 but not for the .17hmr,i hadn't noticed this when i traveled 30 miles for ammo to be told i can't sell it you because its not on your ticket, this was the only shop to notice it as i had purchased ammo twice previously,so i phoned the firearms dept who spoke to the shop on the phone and agreed to let me have it but as soon as i returned home i was to put my licence straight in the post to be amended and it was in a couple of days, Thanks to West Mercia for all there help, Chris
